For many users, this looks like an account for spending and one for savings. For others, this is a critical way to separate crypto they've acquired from a KYC exchange (and thus linked to their identity) from those they've acquired peer-to-peer. For those like many of us devs in the space, that can look like an account for spending and one for accepting donations.

All mingling in the same place, revealing more about your financial activity than any of us want. But what if we could easily separate out our payments and balances, without having to setup a new wallet and save a new seed phrase every time? That's exactly what accounts brings, letting you create new "pockets" in your wallet to keep funds separated out, neatly labeled, and easier to manage.

Ever wanted to use accounts for your wallets but not sure where to start? Cake Wallet's latest release makes it easier than ever before.

But why use accounts at all?

While most of us are used to different types of accounts in the traditional world, in crypto we've gotten far too used to lumping all of our money into one place. That donation you received? The paycheck from your freelance job? The share of lunch you split with a friend?

What I find most odd is that accounts are a function I expected from day one and got from day one and I wouldn't use a wallet that didn't have account functionality. So the fact that others don't use accounts is kind of baffling to me. I have a spend and a savings account at my regular bank. Why wo...

Self-custody is a non-negotiable at Cake Wallet. That’s why, in 2024, we did something painful: we hit pause on our Lightning integration.

We saw too many wallets "solving" Lightning by forcing users into custodial shortcuts. We tried the best-known decentralized alternatives at the time, but the user experience just wasn't there.

We chose to wait for the right tech rather than ship a bad experience.

That tech is Spark. ⚡️

By leveraging Spark and the new Breez SDK, we’ve closed the gap.

6/ 🔄 Block-based syncing is back. Instead of vague progress bars, you can once again see how many blocks remain during sync, especially helpful for privacy-focused chains. Predictability matters. https://files.mstdn.plus/media_attachments/files/116/097/419/301/616/879/original/41311c8d8941102c...
