#WritersCoffeeClub 19/7: Where is the line between following genre or medium conventions, and creating something trite?

The clearest line is not using gen ai, because it 'writes' some very trite shite.

Beyond that, I enjoy genre blending, and mostly ignore tropes until they might be useful to promote my (already drafted and possibly published) books. So I'll leave that judgement to readers.

Yes, this is a chunky post of details, but if you write #Fantasy, and or #SciFi and sell it directly, I'd like to promote your direct sales store on my blog.

It seems we need direct sales visibility, so I'm setting up a blog (inclu. small press) to share our stores!

I'll add as many authors as I can, but if this gets too big, I'll prioritise #authors I know & marginalised authors.

I'll also aim to read a book by each author, so you being added isn't guaranteed.

I can't see many toots about #D2D/ #DraftToDigital charging everyone earning less than $100 USD a year a $12 fee, starting next month (depending which month you signed up.)

I'm looking at alternatives & Bookvault do paperback distribution for US, UK & Europe. (Just pod for Australia & Canada so far, unfortunately.)

Kobo direct gives you Overdrive/ library access & some national stores, But beyond that as someone not in the US...
