Soft serve, uh I mean, software engineeress from Germany. 👩‍💻 (In case you don’t know, software is that fluffy stuff in your puter.)

My interests are fairly diverse. I love pretty much everything related to cyberspace. Whether that's server infrastructure, algorithms, compsci or hardware design. Music is another big passion of mine. I listen to practically every genre, and I used to be a drummer playing classical stuff, jazz and pop. Regarding narrative media, I particularly enjoy escapist fiction in movies, anime and books - I've been reading a lot of isekai light-novels lately.

Besides my main interests, I post about cool or interesting things I find online, random thoughts and hot-takes, but also little nuggets from my real life.

I'm always interested in meeting new people and exchanging ideas. So, in case you want to chat, feel free to message me. 😊
Though, just as a heads-up: I like being positive and up-beat. So if you mainly post about how bad the world is I will probably not follow you.

(Just for the record: I'm not a catgirl!)

Hey #getfedihired!
I’m a Senior Software Engineer looking for a new job in Germany (~ 30h/week). Preferably remote, or in northern Germany.
My specialty is backend development, software architecture and test automation, but I also do infrastructure/cloud engineering and frontend. I’m also open to completely new challenges.
Be aware that I don’t enjoy agentic engineering. I’m specifically looking for something with as little contact to AI as possible.

In case you know anything that might fit, please reach out. Thank you!

"I thought she wasn't answering your calls?"
"She wasn't. But, as you know, I've always taken a somewhat liberal view of how to use a telephone."

I love this show so much. ^^

I mean: Reading/watching isekai content is currently my main outlet for escapism. But I do still have the sneaking suspicion that escaping to a fantasy world with swords and magic wouldn’t solve anything.

Reading stories with hard magic systems makes me think that doing complex magic is probably essentially like programming: There is a language that the spells are formulated in, there are probably primitives for basic stuff like conjuring up matter or moving objects, and for complicated things there are constraints you have to work around. You probably have to be careful not to exhaust any resources, likely have some kind of staging environment before releasing anything, …
I imaging aome crazy magic-scientist backed by a corrupt kingdom will probably have noticed that language is the key to a lot of different domains, and started building golems that can use language to a similar degree as humans. They are trained with all of humans knowledge, using enormous amounts of mana and magic stones, and are so large that only some big companies can afford them. Even running them takes a wast amount of mana. However, they are already being integrated into everything. A notable example are magic mirrors that can answer any question. They are by far not always right, but they are right enough that people consider them useful. Sure, quite a few times people asked stuff like "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who in this land is fairest of all." and went completely off the rails because of the answer the mirror provided.
The mirrors are pretty error-prone, but the things is: They are good-enough with language (and also the ancient language) that they can actually write magic spells on their own. In fact if you do it right, they are way more effective than an apprentice sorcerer. Consequently, a lot of magicians are contemplating switching careers because they are afraid these new golems might make them obsolete.
Some are thinking about what it would be like to live in a sci-fi world with computers - maybe they could become "programmers" or whatever they are called…

Dear spiders in my room,

I tolerate you for exactly one reason: You kill mosquitoes. That’s your sole purpose of being here. There’s quite a lot of you as well.
So tell me: How is it I still get stung in the most annoying places imaginable? How is I have to go mosquito hunting at 4 am because their buzzing is preventing me from sleeping?

Let me be blunt: I don’t like you. If you are not doing your job properly, I will get rid of you.

Consider this a final notice: Step up your game! Now!

Sincerely,
Sigma

"So let me introduce our revolutionary new Developer Transition Kit.
Alongside everything you would expect from a transition kit - that is estrogen pills, tucking underwear, and so on - our engineers here at Apple also included some additional incredible features for your developer needs. For example: The kit contains a pair of highly specialized programming socks so you can write the best code possible. Each kit also comes with a USB thumb drive containing the NixOS and Arch Linux installers. And since we care about our feline developers out there you additionally have the option of adding a pair of cat ears at the checkout. Simple incredible!"

What the hell Apple?!
At least give me an error when you don't recognize the decimal point symbol! Just implicitly ignoring it is dangerous! I only noticed the mistake by chance.
