Beautiful beaches, sun sea and sand. A Caribbean breeze, a cocktail in your hands and going everyday to the beach.

That is the island lifestyle.

But if you are stuggling to make ends meet and living on an island here is the reason it might get worse.

Caribbean islands import fuel like crazy. Except Trinidad and Tobago almost all of the Carobbean islands import fuel.

So while the war between USA and Iran has not been resolved expect the fuel cost to hit the Caribbean.

Food prices
The islands import a huge amount of food. Islands like Curaçao and Sint Maarten import almost all their food.

With transportation costs, due to increasing fuel prices, increasing food prices will increase.

And because to produce food crops you need pesticides producing food in the Caribbean becomes more costly.

Tourism
Islands in the Caribbean depend on stayover and cruise tourists. With higher fuel costs plane tickets will get more expensive and USA and Canadian and UK tourists will think twice about their Caribbean vacation.

Cruis ships will try to pass the higher fuel costs to their customers.

This all means higher import bills for Caribbean islands, and lower income, less exports.
