I don't think so. Messi covers older fans and Yamal is set to appeal to the younger generations. The movie script will be more attractive like that. Etc.

I can see your side as well, but I think Messi vs Ronaldo in the WC final in their last WC would have been the biggest game ever…
It’s not like Messi and Ronaldo are unknown to the younger audience, most likely much better known than Yamal or anyone on the Spanish team. IShowSpeed is like 20 and has literally built his entire brand around Ronaldo (or Messi vs Ronaldo).
But I completely agree with your point that Fifa is corrupt, just not the Messi vs Yamal being bigger than Messi Vs Ronaldo (even though there are pics of Messi and Yamal when Yamal was a baby).

I appreciate that you’re able to engage in a (somewhat) technical debate without ad hominem arguments.
Like I said, I really admire all the work you and others have done for Liquid, bitcoin and nostr. Not trying to push anyone down, just stating my opinion and asking to be corrected if need be. I also understand that you probably have more important things to do than arguing with nobodies.

Nothing is sacred. I don’t work for them, and they don’t need me to do their marketing. If there’s a better bitcoin-native technology that does what I need it to do, and has been battle-tested for long enough, I’m open to it. I just haven’t seen it yet.

I’ve had this argument way too many times… Federated is a nicer word for custodial, it’s just custodied by multiple members (I think something like 15 in Liquids case). If these 15 members (or t...

I think the L2 with better; more bitcoin aligned tradeoffs is Arkade/Ark.
Also, I don’t think it’s a pointless debate that 11 of 15 collude.
How would you react if 15 of the biggest exchanges (Binance, Coinbase, Kraken…) created a multisig with each of them holding one of the keys and started saying they’re non-custodial because other shitcoins casinos hold some of the keys?

Liquid is not custodial, it’s federated. You can use atomic swaps to transfer in and out with Lightning and onchain.

Federated is a nicer word for custodial, it’s just custodied by multiple members (I think something like 15 in Liquids case). If these 15 members (or the majority of them) decide to move the funds from the onchain account controlling the btc that backs L-btc, there’s nothing L-btc holders can do. They’re completely at the mercy of the federation that custodies their btc.
This is not to say Liquid is bad or has been a waste of time. I have the utmost respect for the people who have and continue to build it!
I just think it’s important to be honest about the tradeoffs (Arkade has them too).
I personally think Arkade would be more interesting for this purpose but I’m more than happy to he proven wrong. Also, I know the protocol is early and will most likely experience a lot of growing pains in the future!

I think it’s a pointless debate that 11 of the 15 Liquid federation operators intend to collude to steal the funds (and in doing so intentionally destroy their reputation in the industry) but I know some people can never be convinced. Show me an L2 that doesn’t have some level of tradeoff or sys...
