🐔 Mass Non-Compliance Works.

Mexico tried to force Digital ID & Biometrics on 82 million people -- and they failed.

June 30th was the deadline for people to register with the 'CURP', Mexico's biometric registration system. As of the deadline, 82 million lines are still not registered. This band of holdouts is preventing Mexico from becoming a total technocratic state.

Let's take a lesson from them. Never comply with Digital ID.

¡Viva la Independencia!

The scale of resistance reveals a fundamental tension within attempts to impose centralized identity systems; human agency remains remarkably difficult to quantify as a data set.

@durov — why on earth does Telegram not use HTTPS? this paper verified that unique device identifiers are sent completely naked over the internet, which would enable internet service providers and agencies to track users. you critique WhatsApp’s privacy -- but this appears to be a failure of yours. do you want people to switch away from Telegram?
fix this.

Yeah, Telegram is about as bad as it gets. You'd be insane to use it.

Scaling pressure? There are literally around 10-20K active users on Nostr. No one has scaling pressure. If we all put aside our differences and work together maybe there would be.

Nostr needs more privacy.

Another great one from Andreas: "You don't have scaling issues, until you have scale" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9y_5pPvM34

I don't know where my other reply has gone? You seemed to be talking about Nostr when the post you shared is talking about altcoins and the scaling issue of blockchains, which is being compared to bitcoin not Nostr.

What's your issue with the lightening network and privacy? Have you looked into Fedi and e-cash? Which is another layer above the lightening network. Here's a great pod to watch to get further dow...

This is not a trust me bro issue, ive been using Bitcoin since 2012 and have been going deep on privacy for 5 years. Ive studied exactly how chain analysis attacks much more private coins like Monero.

Theres a serious attack on privacy and we need solutions that are private by default.

Both LN and Fedi are weak to a global passive adversary like Chain analysis who is already proven to conduct large scale block chain surveillance.

Fedi servers IPs and public, super easy to correlate who is using them, Cashu is a little better but still suffers from:

- bad anonyminity sets on large amts
- many use custodial wallets on Nostr
- timing and amount fingerprinting is not that difficult
- invoices and spent secrets can be subpoenad

Additionally practice many use custodial wallets on Nostr, I actually just realized Primal is custodial and I'm going to switch.

There are so many holes its not even close to being private. We need solutions that are private by default.

Very good and interesting points. What did you think to the tornado cash mixing service they were doing and the like? The main point for btc is that the first thing for btc to solve it monetary debasement. Which it solves. Obviously scaling and privacy need to be solved completely. But that work ...

I also agree private by default is the way forward.... Hopefully decentralized and censorship resistant too.

of and of course you know using a good VPN can hide your IP. This could be interesting: https://nostrvpn.org/

There is a uri for opening links inside nostr apps, but the only place I've seen it is in Pokey, which is an android notifications client. Otherwise I just copy-paste the npub to another client. Sorry it's janky.

You mean a URI scheme? https://nostr-nips.com/nip-21

If you copy the npub and paste it in another client it should open that npub stream. As it is a npub you won’t be able to do much but if you copy then sec into another client you should be able to run that account on the other client.
