One true sentence of the day #5

Gm #bitcoin family,

It rained heavily today. Like Hailstorm & ferocious wind and all that. The storm even knocked out an electricity tower.

But it did not stop the book.

We kept going on mobile data and a laptop with just enough battery for an 8hr call with my editor as we tried to figure out how to move ahead.

Do we change the style? Do we move from storytelling into essay mode? Do we explain more? Reflect more? Speed up?

Good lord, we were in a limbo. At one point, we even brought in a third-person POV just to help us decide.

In the end, we chose to continue with storytelling.

So far, most chapters are 2 to 3 pages, rarely 4, so the reader can enjoy each chapter like a snack. Small, & flavorful.

Now I need your help.

The book begins with the goal of doing 40 countries in 400 days, but in those 400 days I reached 21 countries.

As a reader, would you continue reading if the mission changes from “40 countries in 400 days” to “I must complete the 40-country promise, no matter how long it takes”?

Or what is it that will make you turn that page ?

To all the conference attendees,

For me extreme #bitcoin conference circuit was in Oct-Nov 23'

Nashville, Atlanta, Bengaluru, Bali, Tokyo, San Salvador, San Jose

7 conferences in 60 days. I even crossed the Pacific in between. I was literally flying around the world, and it was to much.

Stage lights showed me that fame is not rest, and applause ain’t healing when you are running through it all. A new country every week takes a toll on you.

Friends, oh god the friends, the memories I made were invaluable. Great things happen when people meet. So go out and make that new connect.

A million things can happen from a simple hello.

Hello #bitcoin family,

Getting things done is essential for your wellbeing.
Procrastination has its place too. Sometimes it is your gut asking you to pause and reflect.

Call it what you want, when the month end arrives and bills are due, life calls you to step up. In 30 days, the cycle begins again. Over time, a simple truth reveals itself that only work gives structure to our existence.

As my friend Ebrahim says, it all comes down to creation and consumption.
Consumption can keep you occupied but creating is what keeps you alive.

From the Bhagavad Gita -
“Your karma is your dharma.”

Your actions are your responsibility and your path.

Gm #bitcoin fam,

I am out on the porch, listening to a bhajan from a nearby village, 'Radhe Radhe, Hare Krishna'. Birds peck at grains of rice and call out to their friends. The dogs in the house above mine bark as usual & I write down my thoughts.

Two folks came from around the house, a man and a lady.

They were here for the census and asked about the landlord, who had just arrived and was down in the camp area. The lady recognized him and they headed there.

The man walked behind her, his jeans rolled up, a thin line of blood trickling down his leg. I didn't ask.

I wrote 'I think, I won't be counted this time. The census records your name, age, date of birth, religion, family members, a door to door KYC of sorts. The last one happened in Indian in 2011.'

'Where will I be recorded? Do I exist? Where do I exist? Physically yes, but not in their records. Does it matter? One less counted in this country of billions.'

~10 mins later~

The lady stayed back, talking to the landlord. The guy climbed up, talking on the phone. I asked,
“All done, all good?”

He said yes and kept walking to get his bike.

I overheard him say, “Sir, I didn’t do anything. There was this small dog. He didn’t bark like the big ones and bit me. What can I do? ”

That poor chap will need at least 4 injections.

I had just written these words prior to this incident.

If every thought we had came true, then there would be chaos. There are certain thoughts, certain wavelengths where we sit and wander. The mind goes wild. Our thoughts have no boundaries. They stretch as far as your destiny. Millions wake up every day, thinking, working, contributing, keeping this wheel moving.

Did this census guy ever think he would get bitten by a dog today?

On a lighter note, were they anarcho capitalist dogs, keeping their masters away from KYC?

One true sentence of the day.

Gm #bitcoin fam,

I am lying on my bed, looking at a pile of clothes I can wear, and it feels good. For the first time in a long while, I do not have to pick from a backpack with 6 or 8 Tshirts. Just having options feels easy.

Having access to my own kitchen feels even better. I can cook what I want, eat when I want, without thinking about restaurants or adjusting to someone else’s schedule.

There is also a room of my own, where I can move as I like, be loud or silent, talk, think, sit still, without worrying about where I will sleep tonight or whether I will find a roof.

It feels good to have a house.

I had heard family makes a house a home, and I beginning to see it now. There is silence here, a kind of emptiness, and then suddenly it is broken by the cries of a three month old baby girl, my cook’s child, who comes in for a couple of hours every day.

Those 2 hours are full. One baby crying, another running around trying to grab things or step into water, and in between all of this I sit and try to write, work on the book, plan the day, and move a few projects forward. It is a new rhythm, a different kind of chaos, and I am learning to sit with it.

Even though my travels ended in 2023. It took me about 6 months to find a place I could call a home, and I have been here in the Himalayas for nearly 2 years now.

But over the past few months,I was staying and working with a friend in Tamil Nadu, where we made solid progress on the book. We are now at 160 pages, about 2/3rd is done.

Book writing is a truly enriching experience. If you get a chance to do it, please do it. You learn a lot about yourself in the process, and maybe you will end up writing your second book on how to write a book? :D

Now that I am back, I will keep sharing my thoughts with you all, my digital family.

That is my one true sentence for the day.
