You are absolutely correct, the design of the Vile Masters of Mankind is absent of any job security or benefits. We're all disposable in their Plutocratic eyes 👀.
It's all a gig economy now. The "Greed is Good" crowd, the global Gordon Gekko's, have rigged the system for themselves.
But maybe, if we discover & "follow our bliss's" we can find some solace. NYC is a tough of nut to crack. I escaped to Maine way back, less people, more bliss.

I retired at 60 (2011). The company I worked at for 17 years offered me my pension with a monthly bonus bump of $340/month if I exited at 60. I skedaddled! I was financially prepared, because of my lifelong frugality.
Funny enough though, my Machiavellian 'managers' expressed their doubt in my exit. As I stated to my second shift supervisor; "well, we can call it retirement, but it's not really retirement, it's more like I hate this fking job, so I'm quitting this ShiteShow.
