If they funded it, then they are part owners. That is my understanding. Not a lawyer though. @SuiGenerisJohn is a lawyer though. Thoughts?

I don’t think being a shareholder makes you liable to actions of the business

You can sue anyone in this country but typically negligence, if this is negligence, stops at the company. Doesn't go to investors etc
