I do know that the recommended daily intake of micronutrients is wildly innacurate or made up, so this doesn't surprise me.

Isn't the recommended Vit D dose something like a third of an optimal minimum dose because they discovered it during one of the world wars and knew it was needed, but weren't sure what an upper threshold should be?
