Using "Survival of the fittest" as the argument for macro evolution (across species) is an instant fallacy if thought about for even a moment.

the first thing missing from the mainstream is acknowledging the galactic current sheet driven cycle that triggers global catastrophe, a flood caused by magnetic reversal charging up the crust and making it slip to align the magnetised rock with the rotation. this also gives you about 1000 years of icy weather every 12000 years.
magnetic field goes down, and there is an accelerating rate of genetic mutations, that peaks in a ~100 year period, the first sign it was coming was 1859, the carrington event. if that big a solar flare happens right now, all the satellites drop out of the sky, most of the power grid is ded, there is riots and epidemics in the cities and people losing their nana, gangs equipped to cope with brutal violence stealing whatever they can get, killing whoever they have to, eating them, if it gets there. the grid is delicate already thanks to green bullshit, and lack of EMP hardening of the transformers. the wires will burn.
it's not a matter of if, but when.
and with everyhting mutating at the same time, it isn't the same context as just one mutating and being lucky enough to better fit. no, everything will mutate a bit, all at once. it will happen to us also. mostly that means cancer and organ failure, but some will get lucky. brain might get smarter because a suppressive system is disabled. we know this must happen because humans now with white skin, blonde and red hair, and lactose tolerant after the normal ~8 years, the lactose thing, about 70% have this, so clearly this helped us survive last time. you know, 7 of the sheep, cattle and goats, right?
so, actually, there is strong evidence that while the morons in the ivory towers are completely wrong about everything, i can even contend to you that there is actually only our solar system, like it says in the bible, and that everything we see out there... that is the image of the old versions of our solar system, distorted through the curvature of space. that there is really only us. i know you must think i'm crazy but i've got some very interesting patterns i could show you that hint at this idea.
as for the God design thing. that's also entirely consistent, except you have to reject the idea of omnipotence - and i think you should - if God makes no mistakes, why would he need to change anything? also, there is a literal mechanism by which it seems to me that God talks to us from where he is in eternity, the infinite not-end beyond this universe but yet also all of the universe and all of its history... i have received messages many time, from prayer, that were like the hints of a kind game developer who wants the player to benefit from what the game teaches them. which is also consistent with God is Love.
it's too complicated for me to explain the reasons underneath it all, but i can assure you, that when the time comes, the heavenly host are gonna do their thing, it just may not be what we hope for or what they described it as, not literally, but functionally identical. i know anyway that God speaks to all of us if we just open our ears.
