For some reason I'm gonna say this out loud here. Maybe I should make another NSEC and then say it into the void, but whatever. I've lived a pretty good long life already. I did pretty well in a lot...

I struggled with depression for decades, and often still do. But I have been able to heal some old wounds over the last few years, they were slow to scab over and were still uncomfortable for a time; I still have the scars but things are better now.

For me the source of healing was simultaneously internal and external, but it all came down to forgiveness. When God revealed it to me, I honestly didn't even know what forgiveness was let alone how to give it or receive it. There are answers in the New Testament, but they only became clear through prayer and reflection.

I think a good therapist has to really get to know you and your situation before they're much help. God already knows you better than any human (including you) ever could.

In my experience, it turns out that storing up for yourself treasure in heaven has a way of lightening the weight of the world. Willing to discuss if you ever want someone to talk to.
