a digital version is not the same, nobody has ever proposed an answer to the question of "migration" in this nonsensical scenario, what, lethal injection? how do you retain this unique identity once you are made into a copy? sorta doesn't make sense

the game Soma and another game Stray both cover this subject, and Cory Doctorow talks about it a lot in several books and there is also the old MMORPG Fallen Earth where your physical being is reprinted out of a machine when you die doing dumb RPG stuff

i guess in theory it's like immortality but i doubt that the copy is going to be exact to the point we can not have this conversation about whether the copy retains the rights of the original without the original relinquishing them and what that means
