Proper shampoo and conditioner containers open from the bottom now. That way when they get low, the product pools near the opening while it is sitting there and still comes out easily, rather than the user having to struggle like a fool to get the remaining product out of a container with the opening on the top and the product pooled on the bottom.

So the fact that the vast majority of containers still open from the top seems idiotic to me. Why don’t they all open from the bottom, ever since someone figured out the right way to do this?

Anyway, I save these types of important posts for Nostr.

Ketchup does 🔥

So you just buy another one instead of fumbling to get the last bit out. Fiat world.

Body wash / shampoo / conditioner pump maxi here. Periodically refill the pump bottle with cheaper squeeze bottles.
Psilocyberbull · 129w
I imagine there are people that squeeze as they open and get it everywhere? Idk I feel like this has to be a case of "for some reason general population just can't seem to figure it out" lol I'm gonna start seeing top-opening shampoo bottles as a red flag 🤣

anything to obscure liquidity

It really depends on how viscous the contents are, but I generally agree with you. I have top-opening shampoo and conditioner and printed out a stand that lets me store them upside down. https://cdn.nostr.build/i/0a8440e7f81e9c4f783a5a84062a77ddfdafd9874959c69fc040665478b77eb6.jpg https://cdn.nost...

It's idiotic, but also economically understandable. Same reason why toothpaste is sold in non-rollable tubes nowadays - one has to buy a new one despite the fact there's still some paste in it.

Only works for plastic bottles. Microplastics are a massively underrated problem. Glass is great. Details here on this post on a centralized app https://twitter.com/davidasinclair/status/1680619459399090176?t=e4GaH_cL3894DOxXHcgOqg&s=08

Lol…my best guess is that these new bottom open containers ship upside down. I routinely tip my “conventional” bottles upside down and every once in a while gravity does its thing better than the closure mechanism does its thing.

Can’t remember the comedian but this reminds me of the joke: “if people are so smart why did it take us 5,000 years to put wheels on suitcases?”
Jestopher · 129w
Given that my life is so nomadic, I've invested into squeezable tubes for all my shampoo/soap needs. They all open at the bottom, but it's largely irrelevant since squeezing is possible. Also they don't leak! Miraculous invention.

The only reason I can some up with iis to get people buying a replacement a few days before as they end up wasting the last 5% throwing away the bottle before it's fully exhausted. If everyone buys one more bottle every 12 months that's a free lunch for the manufacturer. I base this on nothing but...

Finally someone is brave enough to say this publicly. Couldn't agree more

Gradually, then suddenly.

Just keep a knife in the shower so you can slice the bottle open and scoop out the last bits with your fingers. Problem solved.
AK 👸🏻 · 129w
Then I turn them upside down. It doesn’t seem difficult.
Creediator · 129w
You guys don’t fill the almost empty bottle with water to extract the remaining content????

This is why I never shower 🤙

In what chapter of #BrokenMoney do you talk about this?

Do it like your ketchup bottle??

Just another indication that we’re still early, Lyn.

Just think how long it took before we got wheels on luggage! Could be a long time.

You’re right though.

There's a hack for those that open from the top. When they get low, just add some water to it. It will get thinner and you will manage to use it until the end. Inflation isn't always a bad thing, it allows you to use your shampoo to the last drop.
CynicalFox · 129w
I've started buying handmade soap for this reason. Support small businesses and get something you can use up properly too. I don't like shampoo bars much though. For that I'm just buying the bottles that have the squeezy bottoms instead. Don't normally pay attention to what else is available but yo...
