annexing Canada does no benefit to the United States right now when we don't have our own house in order.

But if america wanted to expand it’s empire canada would be easy pickings
In the future, the only things that matter are access to natural resources: oil/gas, timber, fresh water, minerals
Countries that have lots of natural resources will be fine, countries reliant on global trade will have a tough time
Canada is a completely unserious country from a political stand point
Half of your entire economy is built on trade with us, the other half with china who will fuck you guys over because that’s what they do.
90% of your population lives within like 50miles of our border
The trade you do make with the rest of the world is reliant on the us lead global order
We protect you from russia and china to the north, both of which will expand their influence in the Arctic circle which thanks to climate change will become a vital waterway.
Also, america is in far less of a precarious position (as far as house in order goes) than canada or europe because we have a legit alternative to the left that actually wins elections and holds political power (thank you based founders)
You have worse debt (as % of gdp), your economy is in much worse shape, you arent the global reserve currency, your free speech is under threat, your gun laws are shit, real estate market fucked, and a real immigration problem.
