Sure, but torrents are still run by volunteers. There will always be people running free relays, even if its only 5 or something.

I'd rather use something I paid for, but I don't like the models of payment I see right now. I'm not paying to send a message to someone else's inbox relay, the recipient paying for access should handle that. I'm not doing a bulky one time payment for supposed forever access. Ideally, I'd pay directly via nostr, in my chosen client, possibly even per message sent.

I think they'll still be free but community gated, like right now many relays are basically just a crypto community relays using the Web of Trust
