Hardware wallets and self-hosted Lightning have been catastrophic for the adoption of Bitcoin as currency. I think this is what we're finding out.

Maybe something like a combination of https://kaspa.org/ and #monero are the real solution.
Fast and cheap transactions -> no need for lightning + privacy.
