But I’m also drawn to the idea of a lateral shift: into archives and research-library/special collections work. At ATypI in May, I was fortunate to connect with two of Stanford’s special collections curators, both of whom told me my background qualifies me to look for positions in those fields. I began my academic life as a piano performance major. I shifted to political science (with German, and philosophy, and history along the way) and stayed in the discipline long enough to earn a PhD. 3/5
