Salvadoran Bitcoiners, people who have personally met Nayib Bukele and others who are interested what is going on in El Salvador, a question for all of you:
Now that all the “bad hombres” are in prison, why El Salvador has not loosened gun ownership restrictions for the public? Why the country has focused on tightening state control over firearms?
A bit of background information for the question:
Like we all know, El Salvador has undergone a dramatic transformation, moving from being considered the "murder capital of the world" to one of the safest countries in the Western Hemisphere.
Many Western countries are starting to look like the old El Salvador. And Bukele is touring the planet telling everyone what the simple recipe for a safe country is. Recently he went as far as saying the following:
"There is no state that is unable to fight the criminals. If a State doesn't overcome crime, it's because it is complicit."
This is a message that will resonate. Whether Nayib Bukele is doing it on purpose or not, he seems to ALWAYS forget to mention the fact that historically speaking the state is the worst mass murderer. And I have never seen him highlight that gun rights are important for self-defense and fighthing against government tyranny.
I think it’s high time that freedom loving Bitcoiners with a sovereignty mindset quit highlighting how “safe” El Salvador is and instead start highlighting the importance of the 2nd amendment. But I would love to know your thoughts, @knutsvanholm, @Giacomo Zucco, @Jeff Booth, @Efrat Fenigson, @Joe Nakamoto, @Bitcoin Berlín SV & EVERYBODY else who wants to contribute.
And now a couple of memes, of course…
