UNPOPULAR OPINION: The Bitcoin revolution is not going start from the Global South. Once these countries get dollarized and the “age of abundance” comes with the stablecoin, people will accept it with the trade-offs. And I don’t blame them.

Their lives have been so incredibly difficult for such a long time that they will welcome the change and don’t give a fuck about the problems related to stablecoins that people in the first world countries are worried about. I might be wrong. And I hope that I am wrong, but I just think that if “the age of abundance” is threatened by Bitcoiners' property rights claims, people do not have any sympathy (or empathy, I don’t know which one is the right term here) for Bitcoiners.

In the end, local people will think that “if Bitcoiners quit being so fucking irritating and simply start using stablecoins, then everyone is going to be happy, including the stupid Bitcoiners”. That’s how I think it’s going to play out. I am totally ready to change my opinion though.

In that sense it’s the same as in El Salvador. Salvadorans are not going to complain about the fact that Nayib Bukele has removed the presumption of innocence and people’s right to privacy, because the murdering and raping has finally ended. People think that the trade-offs are worth it. If you want to go to El Salvador and campaign for the right to privacy, presumption of innocence and open carry, good luck with that. I would not be surprised if the locals themselves would be happy to see you in the maximum security prison.

However, it does not mean that the places in the Global South (El Salvador included), where Bitcoin is used as money (peer-to-peer cash) cannot work as great role models for the whole world. We know that in the end it’s very simple — sats must flow.

Yes — some could say that the Bitcoin revolution has already started. And that it has started exactly in the Global South. I am totally okay with that characterization, but I just worry that Bitcoiners have their hopes too high for those countries. If you are a Bitcoiner, who does not live in the Global South, do not expect the local people in those countries to save you.

It’s funny how the answer to the third part (“Whitney Webb on who’s trying to capture the system and how.”) is the first part (“Saylor on Bitcoin as the apex monetary asset.”).

Question: Who’s trying to capture the system and how?

Answer: The bankers with the help of guys like Saylor -- They are trying to turn Bitcoin into an asset.

In hindsight, it looks so ridiculously obvious. He had all the time for all the Bitcoin podcasts, book launches, conferences, documentaries, et cetera. If you had any influence in the Bitcoin space, you would be welcome to drink expensive cocktails and shake your booty on his yacht. The only unwritten rule was that you don’t question the fact that he does not want Bitcoin to be peer-to-peer cash. That’s all.

Interessante entrevista, mas é importante notar que a NPUB em questão tem uma taxa de transação econômica de apenas 1 sat/vB, muito baixa para um utilizador ativo.

Thomas Jefferson and Mayer Amschel Rothschild agreed on something. Do you disagree with them? If not, how do you feel about Bitcoin treasury companies?

Yes, however we’ve already crossed that Rubicon long ago and now it’s each individual trying to build his own privacy and sovereignty stack to get the lifeboat off the Titanic in any way possible. I do think it’s possible that sailor and people similar to him are trying to financially engin...

Yes, I definitely do not judge the local people. Like I wrote, I understand it perfectly well that they wanted a change.

But, like you said, when people outside of El Salvador use El Salvador as an example of freedom, it’s just crazy. I think that many have been fooled, but some are complicit.

It’s crazy to see how many self-identifying Bitcoiners (in reality they are statists) conflate the words “freedom” and “safety”.

When I think about this legendary Ron Paul quote …

“Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons.”

… it’s pretty much the exact opposite of Bukele’s El Salvador.

Bukele is building a technocracy. It's as simple as that.

Freedom includes food choice, El Salvador's adoption of Bitcoin doesn't imply diet advice.

If you think we are trying to "Separate money from State"..... You haven't read the books below. It's far deeper than just 'taking the thing out of the hands of government." Governments are puppets...

Yeah, I have been thinking about the same… But in the end, if we just talk about peer-to-peer cash (and make sure that the fiat maestros do not distort the meaning of the word ‘peer’) we should be ok.

Sometimes I worry that if we define too clearly the entity where we are trying to separate money from, the fiat maestros will simply create a new entity. That’s why I like the term peer-to-peer cash.
