The idea that any craziness can be justified by polling the majority is crazy. The majority is sometimes crazy. A pure democracy is a menace. Majority rule, unfettered by the rule of law and separation of powers, is tyranny.

You know who has been voted into office?

Hitler, Stalin, The Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Kim Jong Il, Mao Zedung, Vladamir Putin, NicolΓ‘s Maduro

No, being voted into office does not make your government legitimate. Sometimes, it just means you rigged the vote. Sometimes, it just means that most of your country's voters are literally retarded.

One of the great ironies of democracy is that it doesn't prevent the voters from voting in someone who ends democracy. There are some votes cast, that are the final votes cast.

There's nothing moral about democracy as it's implemented.

If 80% of the population is incapable of being able to participate in a democracy... then it follows that the government should be doing 80% or so fewer things... such that the few things they do do are so simple that the 80% can understand those things.

Agreed, but also suddenly inspired by a new thought... This "final vote," the highest stakes, the vote to end voting... I'm intrigued. I really like this concept.

This is the argument of pluralists, among others. https://legalclarity.org/what-is-a-pluralist-democracy-and-how-does-it-work/

I often think about aristocracy as a natural phenomenon in a free society. Like people raise, sophisticate, acquire wisdom, respect, power over themselves and the forces of nature (aligned with) Then, they become role models and people consult them, ask them, are inspired by them. So they naturally ...

that is why voting somebody into office (representative democracy) should be accompanied by voting on specific topics (direct democracy), with the latter overriding decisions of the former. I am definitely not interested of being governed by the interest of minorities, nobody should.
