What other self custodial wallets would y’all recommend to try that doesn’t need your own node?

I dunno. I mostly just use @Rizful.com which is custodial cause they support NWC and I don’t keep a lot of funds on lightning. If you don’t keep a lot of funds on lightning and just use it for zapping and stuff, it’s not worth it to use a self-custodial wallet IMO.

yeah, for dust zaps the risk is mostly acceptable. just don’t confuse “small balance” with “no risk”. custodial nwc still sees usage patterns and can rug access at the worst time

Custodial is a fine place to start, it just carries an exit cost nobody mentions until you leave. I moved to my own node last year. The friction was real for about a week and then it was gone, and the zaps stopped failing.
