Are there any experienced runners who could please give me some advice on how to get the habit started? What would your advice be?

I've recently started walking more consistently and throwing some mild jugging into it. Been quite awhile since I just ran for the heck of it.

I'd appreciate the advice, knowledge, and wisdom. Thank you.

I've never been into running. Walking I think does better on the knees.

Why do you want to run? I find walking to be much more stimulating. Allows you to think a lot more than while running. Listening to podcasts, music etc.

I'd suggest starting by running circles around sheep. Funny, but the point is, mix it up. I ran cross country in high school. Do countryside runs, sprint intervals on a track, parks, trails, establish a goal to run in a race not worried about time unless you wanna be. Stretch before and after alwa...

Find a run club to join. It makes it a lot more fun and they are generally very welcoming. They usually have some for all skill and speed levels.

I was able to build a run habit with interval training. It’s important to start very slow and build consistency. I would suggest starting with something like jog for 1 min then walk for 4 min, repeat 4 times for a 20 min workout. Do that for 3 days in your first week. Second week, add another roun...

I don't run outside much. I do run on the treadmill. I notice the first 5 minutes are the WORST. When I power through them and make it to 10 minutes it becomes a gun challenge. Then when I get to the 10 minute mark I think to myself why not go for 15 minutes? And so on and so forth. I usually stop a...

Just start with short distances with a tempo that is the most fun to you. Slowly increase the distance over the following weeks. If you lack motivation you should tell yourself to stop being a bitch and do what's necessary.

I really like the free guided runs on the Nike Run Club app. It’s like having a running buddy in your ears and you can choose how long of a distance or time you want to do. https://www.nike.com/nrc-app

I used to run 5Ks, but no longer do it. Started with just 1 mile runs several times a week part of a winter running program in way back in school. It helped to do it outside in a nice natural environment. Keeping the breathing and pacing was the hardest, but what helped a lot was listening to musi...
