Yup, agree with @Derek Ross (🧵⤵️) But one important thing is still missing. Lately, while introducing some newbies to the #v4v music space and through it to Nostr as well , I heard an interesting observation — a problem in my eyes. Something I can’t solve on my own. If anyone wants to collaborate, drop a comment. 📍 Details:
One lady asked: "What if I don’t have those zaps, as you call them, to share with others?"
Shortly after from another person: "How do I get those coins to tip the content I like?"
And another "Is this legal, should I register my wallet somewhere as well or does it automatically connects to my bank account?"
Yeah, normally, that’d lead me into the whole intro on the beauty of Bitcoin and its ultra-fast, fee-low Lightning Network. But hey — I’ve already filled their heads with so many new things about the #v4vmusic, with different tools, infrastructure, values, etc. And sure, adding a broader context on Bitcoin is needed, here but:
A) It requires another XX minutes of attention,
B) Brings extra layers to learn,
C) Opens the whole huge Pandora’s box of KYC vs non-KYC, exchanges, wallets, taxation, privacy, etc. — which I think is the most problematic part of this topic.
So yes, guys, let’s face it — Nostr is awesome (I’ve truly loved it from day one), but there should be some ways for newbies to get SATs smoothly. Maybe some kind of fiat-to-Bitcoin cards (something like @Bitrefill ), maybe prepaid cards offered directly by the biggest Nostr clients ( @YakiHonne @Damus @primal @Nostria etc) - maybe some direct converters built in specific clients. Not sure, really. But indeed, we need something that helps new people get SATs to let them experience the whole beauty of #Nostr, to shows them how great it feels to be able to #Zap others and to help the circulation flow.
