Primal still doesn't even have webm support and they think they're going to make a better video platform than YouTube 🤔 nostr:nevent1qqsqpksx2cfgd5d3lf0rr4ujsq9y564c78eae6vc7ysl05y9qgyshrgppemhxu...

Having a paid sign up option that depends on Primal's servers and continued payment is neither decentralised, secure or anonymous. Its just a bad Twitter clone that also utterly defeats the point of the Nostr network. Capitalism ruins everything.

Bitcoin exists to give people an option to opt out out of fiat. Some people will use custodial solutions and there is nothing wrong with that as long as people have the option to use Bitcoin in a sovereign manner and transact with privacy in a p2p setting self custody maxis are just as delusional a...

"need" I haven't had a TV license since 2019. Every year they send me letters threatening investigation, and then some retard shows up in the middle of a workday and leaves more threatening letters. They even send letters to my office. 😂 I think they are shitting themselves behind the scenes. H...

Interesting. I wonder if it is necessary to declare swaps between onchain and liquid or e-cash (I totally ignore how those work)

Not sure I understand. I would say use the assets separately then you don't have to worry about that. Plus to stay above board all you have to do is make the declaration but as of now you don't have to share transactions or give wallet info as far as I know

I don’t disagree but you are delusional if you think people will not use custodial solutions

Because history has shown us that you cannot scale a single protocol to 8 billion people on the base layer. Would bet a good amount of satoshis that some shitcoin called kaspa is not going to magicall...

What would be the point in custodial bitcoin? One of the main reasons bitcoin was invented is to have a private, decentralised, non custodial digital currency that doesn't depend on centralised companies like visa/paypal. WHy would anyone buy bitcoin and use coinbase instead of just using paypal, other than for asset speculation purposes?

You ask these questions but then promote a shitcoin like Kaspa… I don’t promote custodial solutions but you live in a fantasy world if you don’t think that a global money will not have some people using it with trusted custodians. I won’t hold my bitcoin with custodians but I am not going t...

Such a strawman that the shitcoiners use so people can market their shitcoins. Bitcoin does scale it just needs to scale through layers which is what is happening. I have no issues using lightning and I wouldn’t consider myself a tech wizard. It’s not that hard and it continues to get easier (e...

why not if you can? It makes everything easier and user friendly for people. L2s biggest problem (and there are many problems) is its usability. Lightnng is complicated to understand and set up, which means most peopleuse custodial wallets, and thats just not what bitcoin wants. And even then its a faf.

One of the worst currently is China though. But I agree that surveillance capitalism is also a problem.

The UK has more CCTV per capita than China (the highest in the world). It also has more prisoners per capita than China, not as much as the US though. China invests in its people, in infrastructure, schools, healthcare, roads, high speed rail etc. - something the US does not do much anymore because the US is run by profit seeking megacorporations and china is run by govnts that limit what those corporations can do, and a govnt that taxes corps properly so it can invest in the people and its nation.

True, there probably are few to none. However the tried alternatives have been worse (see the Soviet union or East Germany). I don't know if there is a solution that's actually good. Some think that i...

Many east Germans believe they were better off before capitalist unification than they are today. The wealth and employment gap between those living in west vs east in todays Germany is significant. Capitalism today is more totalitarian than communism of yesteryear, and there is no greater example of that than the intense surveillance of the population by of the tech capitalists in the richest nations on earth. The Stasi could never have dreamed of the kind of survelillence power capitalism has given to corporations. Surveillance Capitalism is the most burtal and oppressive form of governance in existence. And its going to get much worse. Elon musks america is a fascist state worse than any 'communist' state that preceded it.
