Libro.fm, long my favourite choice for audiobooks because they distribute them as un-DRMed audio files and a portion of my purchase goes to a local brick-and-mortar store of my choice (this option may not exist in all countries; it works in Canada and the U.S. that I know of), is now entering the eBook fray.

They're going to publish more details in the future, but they say that if you have a libro.fm membership you'll be able to use your "credits" on either Audiobooks or eBooks (in addition to continuing to buy either a la carte).

Which... okay, but the plan is priced based on an audiobook service and ebooks are way cheaper, so maybe using plan credits for ebooks isn't as amazing a feature as it might sound. But nonetheless, I'm eager to see if they offer competitive a la carte prices.

It would be certainly nice to have a portion of my eBook sales go to local brick and mortar book stores.

I have these gigantic batteries that I bought millenia ago for running my CPAP while camping. They work fine for the purpose. I think they do have a USB charging port on them, though. It makes me ponder walking around with them popping out of my purse powering my devices like a totally reasonable "power bank". :)

@nprofile1q... We really like ours, and answering the question, "Is this a good plan?" is her whole job. I don't THINK we explicitly pay her, either, although 'San would know for sure. I think maybe she gets a percent on the value of our investments, which incentivizes her directly to make us more valuable. Anyway, I recommend it!

I meant to mention that I was walking past the bank of public-access / client-access computers in my workplace the other day and someone had a fullscreen Commodore 64 emulator running and was programming in BASIC.

That may have made me even happier than the time someone was watching Breakin' II: Electric Boogaloo.

I literally just had this weird support call:

Me: I'm having trouble getting your app to connect to your service. When I do, it shows my account circled in red in the top status area, and when I tap it, it says "Unauthorized".

Support Person: {proceeds to ask me several reasonable information gathering questions, all of which I immediate answer}

[...a few minutes of time pass...]

Support Person: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: Well, I still need this issue resolved, unless you've fixed it on the back end? I'm still getting the same error in the app.
