Yeah, it's like @Henry said, owls are silent fliers. I was wondering if a lone feather would be quieter or not, but I think it is a row of feathers on the front of the wing that makes the difference. Lookup owl hunting videos...they are scary birds.

There are some folks out of Washington with shoes listed on etsy, a friend got some and really likes them, I think they make leather soles.
