What's the best way to migrate modern linux system to a new hard drive, would re-creating the same base directory structure, mounting new partitions to their respective points and doing "cp -a /media/oldroot/* /media/newroot/" suffice?
They aren't tied to particular sectors, right — and EFI would just find the loader as binary in EFI partition of the new disk?

I'd just do "dd" TBH, but I want to reduce the size of the swap partition while I'm at it, so partition table would be a little different.

Man, I hate to break it to you, but you work for Google — a corporation that, at least in my book, is worse than Nazis.

The only thing I use mobile data for these days is to connect Wireguard tunnel to my home network, where I have unfiltered access to the outside world over VPN 😅

Is there a way to set recommended update interval in atom.xml?

Apparently, someone subscribed to my gemlog in feedly, now it keeps checking it every 5 or so minutes and I certainly do not post new stuff THAT often.

Yeah, some things are just implemented differently, but then they are presented in a way so they look and act close to what people are used to, but to those who had deeper understanding how they used to work, this makes thing look even more weird 🤪
I've grown very comfortably using snac2 — it's still lightweight, but much more feature-complete now: now you can even view a more or less complete profile of people who send you follow requests, including a handful of their recent posts. Before this was added, I had to go to their home instance to figure what they are and make a decision, which was problematic if their profile wasn't public. This is still not available in snac's own web UI, but it works in other clients, including lightweight BloatFE.
So now I'm perfectly content — some things are indeed unusual, but I mostly got used to them.

One thing that keeps bugging me — and I think I'm starting to dislike GtS for this, for some reason snac2's media proxy fails to retrieve images from GtS instances, including avatar images/profile pictures, so I was even surprised seeing you on my timeline having a proper avatar, but then I realised that this is your snac2 alt 😂
Oddly enough, from my Pleroma instance things work perfectly fine. I can even view the media if I cut and paste the URL into browser's location bar. Not sure what to think — either it's a weird interoperability bug, or it's GtS requiring "signified fetches", I only have vague understanding of how they work, but from what I know, snac2 doesn't support them — haven't looked into it any further yet.
mega-kudos for running your snac server on PPC! You absolute boss!
Thank you! I'll try to keep this machine running for as long as hardware works. I even considered switching to a PowerMac G5 at some point as a more performant machine having more RAM, but I remain wary — these PowerMacs are too power-hungry. This Mac Mini on the other hand remains an absolute winner, despite being a 20 y.o. machine that indeed kept running 24/7 for over a decade, can't believe how tenacious it is! 😁

Not that everyone remains clueless about this… But hey — at least all these talented people are working (or procrastinating 😈) for you, not for the competition — a decent compromise 😏
