On the bright side, "roguelites" are basically riding off of people's desire for an arcade experience, but the average gamer is too ignorant of gaming conventions now to put that into words. So we get forgettable meme games for troons to disassociate to, but there is a market for it.
I don't think I'd call modern western games movie games though. Do they still even pretend to be cinematic? It seems more like western single player games are just running on momentum now.

It's not about the specific games those two companies make, just the fact that they didn't scale themselves out of profitability with hyper realistic graphics, huge open worlds, voice acting every line of dialogue, etc.
At this point you kind of just have to hope that developers who appeal to your niche see their example and follow it.

Well, they did give us DD2, and I heard people liked SF6 but yeah I'm not happy with the direction they took due to MHWorld and RE2R's success.
I just hope more companies beyond Nintendo and From realize you can just choose not to scale up production costs forever and still be successful.
