@Ryan

I like to think I'm a student of life and trying to be a better human every day.

I spend my time learning more about #electronics, #homeautomation, #sewing. Getting outside to ride my #bicycle and looking for #mushrooms on my walks is always a plus. I also like exploring the world through #math, #python, #LaTeX, #cooking, #volunteering, #photography, and turn-based #jrpgs and tactics games.

@nprofile1q... Even your parallax cloud demo looks complicated to me so no judgement here.

I guess I was wondering why your racing game was too complicated that it needs to be put on the back burner. I get time and energy and wanting to feel progress.

So what are you planning to replace it with. From the post, it sounded like one core implementation for each game. So what core thing goes with what game? And do you find that game fun to play and fun to work on.

i'm thinking of putting my racing game on the back burner indefinitely and focusing on making substantially smaller scope games so it's just like, one new System at a time, and that way every one of t...

@nprofile1q... I liked watching the progress you were making, but I definitely get the feeling of biting off more than you can chew. I'm not a game dev, but the two questions I have are what skills are you looking forward to learning? And do the kind of games you want to make have any overlap with what you want to make?

I also remember hearing/reading someone saying that you should make the simplest version of the core game play you can to see if it is fun. That resonated with me for a lot of things.

@nprofile1q... I certainly get the old Internet vibe. It'd be nice if there was an agreed upon tag like instead of auto-delete, if someone is preserving, switch to private dm.

Or self hosting and then modifying to not honor self deletes where you've interacted. But that feels a bit scummy.

This might sound odd but... I'm a tiny bit worried Godot has become a comfort space. Something I can do, and try to maaster on my own time, with no pressure except whatever timeline I try to impose up...

@nprofile1q... I think a happy place that brings comfort can be a helpful balance. It took me a long time to give myself permission to not make everything about performance and achievement. I still struggle with it tbh, but life can be richer when you can appreciate the full range. And honestly, as far as indulgences go, it is really cool you find it in godot.
