Okay, why the hell do people use tile backsplashes above their stove? Apparently it's standard now, but that means you'll constantly need to clean grease off countless rows of grout. Some people even have multiple different kinds of tile back there *in little frames*, making it even harder to clean! I want to put a decorative but removable hammered copper panel back there, but Lyricdancer says that's Just Not Done™. Can someone please explain this madness? #HomeDecor #KitchenRemodel

@nprofile1q... One thing I'm not hearing much about is how profoundly the Trump administration is revealing America's weaknesses to her enemies. Ten years ago it was widely assumed that our military was effectively unstoppable in a hot war. Now the entire world knows that it's not. We don't have sufficient missile defenses to protect our facilities. Our elections can be manipulated. Our leaders are avaricious dupes. We can be pwned.

It's a massive change. Theb idiots in D.C. destroyed not only America's soft power, but its hard power as well. When this is over, a country with only 5% of the world's population may have only 5% of the world's influence. You can decide whether that's sad or glorious; I believe it's sad, because for all our faults we've done more good than harm, but ymmv. Anyway, it's the truth.

The American Century is over. The French villagers who feted my father-in-law and his fellow soldiers from the 79th when they retraced their WW2 path by bus with their families in the 1960s would tell you that's not entirely good. But the country we've let ourselves become no longer deserves that adoration. For the world's sake, I pray someone else steps up.

Oh yeah the Mexican food and the farmers market are great! Lots of good people here! But they're not the city, sadly. The mayor and his/her cronies shipped in from Texas are the only ones who define the "City of Hillsboro." Just go up Brookwood sometime to highway 26, you'll see the ugly side of thi...
