Anybody here do cold plunges?

Ever since trying it in Norway I’ve gonna partially down the rabbit hole of saunas and cold plunges.

I do. I use edge tub. Has been super beneficial. I find cold makes me feel better than sauna. I’ve tried both. I started with cold showers for about a year, and once I was hooked, I moved into cold plunges. I do them about 4x per week, 10-12 minutes at 42 degree water. I also still do cold ...

I built a natural swimming pool in my garden and dip every morning (‘til about November).

One of my main life regrets is not discovering cold plunges in my 20s or 30s. The calm that overtakes you once you’re immersed in icy water beats any drug I’ve ever encountered. And I’m convinced that cold plunges are as good for you as exercise, without inflicting any pounding and wear-and-te...

We have a cold plunge sauna here in Vancouver that takes Bitcoin! They only open in winter, though
Ron · 82w
🙋‍♂️ I plunge, have not incorporated saunas yet but actively researching.
Forrest · 82w
When I can! They are amazing paired with the Sauna. Heading back to Norway here soon for some more research up north 😏

Fan of Banyas in NY area, most have cold plunge tub. Check out Marlboro Banya in NJ. I like Dr. Rhonda Patrick on sauna. https://www.foundmyfitness.com/topics/sauna Also check out Limitless with Chris Hemsworth. Fun watch.

Wow happy to hear that. Im norwegian and take the cold shower every morning. Always makes me wake up, and most of the time brings a good mood and laughter aswell.
Josiah Goff · 82w
I do it every Saturday morning with a local group. Love it.

I’ve done Irish showers (start cold, end hot) for the last 7 years. That voluntary step into cold water blasting my face is the hardest thing I do every morning but swallowing that toad is my way of starting the day with a W. But this year I bought an Ice Pod and started doing ice plunges. Start...

I do. I usually go every weekend between November and March, and I miss it for the rest of the year (daily cold showers must suffice). It's addictive. 😀
Weird Mike Jerkovic · 82w
no. I don't mind cold water, but I can't stand the sauna. Outside hot is amazing, but being locked in a hot room with no airflow is torture for me.
duke · 82w
Yes. Sauna every day. and in the winter we'll make a hole in the ice for swimming.
Phil · 82w
Not cold plunges yet, but I started showering as cold s possible after a nice warm one. And I gotta say it‘s fascinating how much you A) get used to it and B) are really looking forward to it. In the meanwhile the colder water up in the mountains is almost my primary reason to go there :-).
Anchorite · 82w
I take hot showers, it's like a cold plunge but the opposite
Keith · 82w
Oh yeah, spa to the pool during cold months. It’s pretty amazing what the body can adapt to over time. I used to challenge my kids to see who could stand waist deep in the pool the longest.. In the middle of the winter! They still can’t beat my times even though they are grown now. I have a lot...

I don't nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a, but I do swim in the ocean year round, which I started with a good buddy during COVID. The water where I live isn't the coldest, but does get chilly in winter and spring and is super clean. The combo of natural sea wat...

Yes. Wish we were setup to do it more regularly. Such a great experience. We mix it with basic Whim Hoff breath work. Goes really well.
Lawtoshi · 82w
Yes, they are excellent. And even better when combined with breathing techniques/mindfulness.
Force2B · 82w
Been doing it for a year and a half, with 10 min breathing exercises before the plunge. Has improved my life significantly

Every morning through the medium of surfing in the Atlantic. Can highly recommend 🤙

Cold plunges- the sending of BTC to a hardware wallet without confirming the outbound address.
JeffG · 82w
Yea, regularly. Aside from feeling incredible, they've been really really beneficial for me.
Tom A · 82w
What temperature does the water have to be for a cold plunge? I go for a dip in the pool, which considering it’s winter here it’s cold… but Australia really isn’t that cold 🤣
Student of Bitcoin · 82w
Did it frequently when it was readily available at the gym. Highly recommend it, you feel like a new person.
willyleblank · 82w
Went down the rabbit hole as well—apparently, science doesn't support any of the claimed benefits of cold plunges. They could be damaging, potentially causing increased stress on the nervous system due to the drastic cold temperatures...

I have to settle for a cold shower after a 20-minute sauna at the gym. I hear an actual ice plunge after the sauna can be very beneficial.
Honey4Bitcoin · 82w
Yes! Love them so much we installed an almost heaven sauna in the basement of our cabin. Also got a 100 gallon agricultural feeding tank from tractor supply to use as an ice bath.
Short Fiat · 82w
Yes I do it regularly when in London. At first it is overwhelming and I gasp for breath and then, after a while I build a resistence to the cold. I am sure that it is good for me both physically and psychologically. The winter there really doesn't feel that cold as a result.
imnuso · 81w
Sauna and cold plunges are super healthy and relaxing. Short cut to mindfulness too
ryanjordan · 81w
Yes, I have both. Tips to get the most out of your sessions…. 1. Always follow the sauna with the cold plunge. 2. Not much benefit after 3 mins in the cold plunge. 3. Make sure your magnesium and electrolytes are at adequate levels, otherwise these therapies may have a negative effect.
Aaron · 81w
Big on sauna. Not so much cold plunge
Dea Rezkitha · 81w
I love cold plunges
Iain S · 81w
Love both - Finnish saunas and cold plunges. Try to do each at least once a week.
Aaron · 81w
Yesss! Sauna and then a swim in the ocean pool in winter is my favourite combo. Mind becomes clear and muscles relaxed. https://m.primal.net/KChn.jpg

Yes my wife and I enjoy these in the cold season. Refer to the book "Outlive" for a review of sauna research. If memory serves, a 20-min sauna at 165 F several times a week produces markedly improved longevity. But as you know, grip strength is one of the best indicators of longevity. The book lists...
