I’d argue that the government isn’t a sentient organism with the ability to “care” or “desire”. It’s a system, composed of individuals, hierarchy, objectives, and constraints, that functions the way it must based on its composition.

Yes, I'm not sure about this particular incident. I was merely pointing out that people agreeing with this are going to be against the enforcement of borders, generally. Even if they were actually an...

Legal border control is completely reasonable. So is legal deportation. Warrantless search, seizure, detainment, and deportation are a different matter. They are not only questionably legal, but most importantly they create a militarized police force not accountable to laws that can used to oppress anyone who displeases power. Left unchecked this reliably goes very badly for everyone involved.

I've done as long as 2 weeks most recently. But it wasn't extremely helpful. I heard that doing it for longer duration is more important. Never did a 30 minute one.

Yeah I can’t speak to the effect of shorter stints. Personally, 15-45 minute practice a few times per week for months (college courses), interspersed with shorter periods of more intense practice (multi-day sesshin) has had somewhat of a lasting or more foundational effect, and seemingly leaving a sort of toolkit that can be tapped into on demand to a limited extent. Overall worth the relatively small time and effort commitment, and probably could result in meaningful long lasting changes in chronic stress. His podcast interview is worth a listen in any case, to get a sense of whether it feels worth a solid try.

I’ve never really felt like I’ve benefitted from meditation. Every time I try it, I feel like it doesn’t do anything.

Meditation should not generally feel like it’s benefiting you in a near term sense (especially at first, similar to physical exercise when you’re out of shape).. and if you’re looking for some benefit, you won’t last long enough for it to start making a difference, or at best you won’t be focused in your practice. Any benefit you do feel is essentially a side effect, a nice distraction. The real benefit happens beneath the surface of your conscious, striving mind.

Full Catastrophe Living is a good book (or audiobook) tutorial to start with, though I’d recommend being willing to commit to 8 weeks of daily practice to actually explore what he describes. For context this is a good interview of the author: https://podcast.mindandlife.org/jon-kabat-zinn/

The issue with olive oil is that most of it is counterfeit (actually canola oil). It’s also very similar to canola oil structurally so I personally don’t fuck with it.

Linoleic acid (the most detrimental component of seed oils) has a half life of ≈ 4 years but that is for what has accrued in the flesh and fat stores of the body. I’m not sure about direct consumption as your body excretes PUFA’s that end up at the natural end point on the skin’s surface, ...

The nutrition from ruminant meat should help pretty quickly. I’ve heard various things about rate of PUFA clearance, which depends on things like: bodyfat percentage, how much PUFA you ate and for how long, probably age and gender, activity level, and what the new diet is. I’ve heard the half-li...
